Landscape Astrophotography Noise Reduction with Image Stacking

Landscape Astrophotography Noise Reduction with Image Stacking in Photoshop CC or CS6 Extended

This is a very cool, although slightly time-consuming method for controlling noise in your astro-photos. I use luminosity masks and Topaz DeNoise to reduce noise cleanly, but this seems to do an excellent job too. It involves stacking multiple images and using the Median function. Thank you to Ian Norman for the tutorial.

  1. Awesome. Inspiring. Count me in Jimmy. Astrophotography makes me gooey inside.

  2. Jimmy do you have a video of your version of removing noise in astro shots? I’d love to see it. If not I think it would make a great tutorial.
